Whatever you call it, acne can be a frustrating condition. Acne may be considered as a nuisance or rite of passage, but having acne blemishes can lead to depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Now, there are very effective therapies for acne skin care so there is no need to suffer.
Who Needs to Worry About Acne Skin Care?
The increase in certain hormones during teenage years is a major factor in the development of acne scars. Male hormones called androgens cause an increase in oil production in the pores of the skin, especially on the face, chest and back. Both males and females produce androgens, but males produce higher levels of this "male" hormone. This is the reason that males need a more intense acne skin care. Women, however, might observe that during their period they need a stronger skin care solution. This condition is caused by the hormones that initiate the menstrual cycle. Both pre-teens and adults may need acne skin care. Some people may even require adult acne treatment even though they haven't experienced strong acne breakouts during their teenage years.
Cause Of Acne Blemishes
The need for proper acne care is produced by three things:
Too much oil (sebum) present in sebum canals when it does not properly outflow to the surface. This causes lesions to the cell lining the sebum canals and your body responds with inflammation.
Skin cells (called epithelial cells) clog the pores.
Bacteria love to hang out in the excessive sebum and clogged pores. This causes inflammation (redness) and pus to form.
All Acne Imperfections Are Not Created Equal
Doctors have all sorts of scientific-sounding words to describe the various types of blemishes you get with acne: open and closed comedones ("blackheads" and "whiteheads"), papules and cysts. There are different acne skin care solutions for the various kinds of acne. Some kinds of acne, especially cysts, can cause significant acne scarring.
Fight Acne Breakouts with a Natural Acne Care!
There are definitely things you can do to help minimize the quantity of pimples you get.
Wash your face twice daily with warm water and a mild soap. No need to scrub-just use your hands. Too much scrubbing can irritate your skin and turn acne worse instead of better.
Keep hair away from your forehead if this is an area where you have acne.
Don't pop your pimples! (Your mother was right about that one.) Squeezing or picking at acne may produce inflammation and scarring and almost always makes the condition worse.
If you use make-up or facial lotions, make sure they are water-based. Look for the words "non-comedogenic" on the label, or check with the pharmacist.
